No two people have the same walk with Jesus Christ. However the Bible applies to us all. How we read and interpret the Bible can make or break our faith in God. There are many different Christians out there, the kind that concern me are those that believe that we have to suffer like Jesus did. This really defeats the purpose of Christ coming to earth. He died for our sins, so that we can have eternal life and have it in abundance. God gives us all a good measure of faith, how that faith is developed is up to us. How we use the word of God in our lives is up to us. Most of us have heard the saying by Henry Ford “If you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right on both occasions.” I like this saying and have tried to live by that credo. Whilst we as humans are not worthy of God’s grace, the fact is that those of us that are saved fall under His grace and His blessings. The New Testament is mostly about the love of Jesus and his teachings. This is why I guess someone recommended that I read the New Testament first.
Typical unteachable me, I read the Old Testament first. When I saw the wrath of God, I wanted to quit there and then, eventually after wading through some very tough books, I succumbed and started with the New Testament. Then I got to understand about Christianity. I have read the New Testament at least four times before venturing back to the Old Testament. Now I can handle it and I am able to find God’s promise of blessings in the Old Testament. I have used the word in the Old Testament to pray into existence certain needs and desires into my life. My secret to this is to understand that I am saved and to look for the blessings in the bible. Jesus said as a man speaketh so he is. If you believe that God is wrathful and cannot wait to send you to hell then that will become your reality. You will eventually start to not be so nuts about God, (as I became) and could actually talk or think yourself out of salvation. When reading the word of God, leave your pessimistic hat at the front door, seek wisdom, seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and all else shall be added according to His riches and glory.
